Elect Sydney Thomas for Martin County School Board on August 20th!!
Put Martin County students and teachers first!
As a former educator and mother of two kids in Martin County School District, Sydney brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and passion to the table.
She is deeply committed to a strong public education system in Martin County, and has been fighting against the ongoing effort to impede our educators and take money from our schools and teachers.

Let's take back our district by voting for Sydney Thomas on August 20th!
Every child in Martin County deserves a high quality public education from teachers paid a fair compensation.
Teacher Pay
Martin County continues to lose qualified and passionate educators. While the district has requested feedback from leaving teachers, and has plans to address some of the causes, there is one glaring factor at play.....teacher compensation.
Sydney doesn't think it's good enough to compare to neighboring districts when Martin County ranks as one of the highest cost of living counties in Florida.
Paying teachers more is a priority.
Trust Our Educators
The existing relationship between the school board and our educators is very poor. With over 12 sessions to reach an agreement, our teachers feel undervalued by our board. It should be a partnership working towards a common goal.
Our teachers and educators were hired for a reason, and it is best to trust the experts in our district to lead the way to improving our students' learning with the support of the school board through policy and budget.

Sydney does NOT know the best way to improve the reading scores of our 3rd graders. What Sydney DOES know is that the highly educated professionals in our district DO know what to do. It is Sydney's goal to support them as much as possible.
Book Removals
Sydney passionately opposes the removal of most books from our high school libraries. It's understandable for some, but many were removed for no legitimate reason.

Our school district offers Destiny Discover, which permits guardians to limit access to library books for their own student. Removing access to materials for all students is unnecessary.

Political agendas have no place in our schools.
Better Schools, More Money
People used to move from across the state so their kids could attend Martin County School District, and teachers could teach here. When Sydney first moved here, you were LUCKY to have a teaching job in the district.

Whether you have kids in schools or not, teachers with competitive salaries result in higher performing schools, and a more desirable real estate market and local economy.

Get back to what is important in public education in Martin County
"My only goal is to support our educators in delivering a high-quality public education through the Martin County School District. I have no other business interests or conflicts within this community.
The MCSD board needs a fresh start. Twelve years ago, we were highly regarded statewide. Now, we make national news for all the wrong reasons.

Let’s restore the district's reputation to what it was 12 years ago."
